Recently, Kristen asked, “How can I wrap my head around gaining a staff to working in the office without ending in a financial crisis?”

This is a super question and very relevant in many business owners minds. Afterall, if you start giving away all your work, you are left with next to nothing, right? Wrong.

I always advise business owners to make a TRANSITION. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will your business.  So what does that look like? Glad you asked!

#1 – First determin if you can AFFORD the help. Where are your prices? What are your expenses? What is your profit margin and how much are you really making? If your profit margin is 30% or less, in my opinion you can’t afford it. Afterall you still have to pay yourself.

#2 – Boost up your marketing efforts Time to kick it into high gear. At first it is going to be a very big balancing act. You need to give up a small part of your business so that you can get your new staff’s feet wet. It works out great becasue you don’t want to overwhelm them, but still “test the waters”

#3 – All new clients who come into your business, you give to your new staffer Let them take on the new clients and then you can keep the old. This works really well for all involved.

It is really as easy as that. Find the right people (people who want supplimental income), and introduce them right to your clients and everything will be great!
